About the Diaspora Bridge Initiative

The Diaspora Bridge Initiative (DBI) is a transnational program dedicated to strengthening connections among the African diaspora through culture, education, entrepreneurship, and heritage exchange. Rooted in the belief that our shared ancestry is a source of power and renewal, DBI creates pathways for collaboration among artists, educators, community leaders, and entrepreneurs from Africa and its diaspora — particularly Afro-Brazilians and African Americans.

Through curated projects, immersive travel experiences, conferences, and partnerships, the initiative promotes:
• Cultural Diplomacy: Facilitating exchanges that highlight music, dance, capoeira, gastronomy, spirituality, and visual arts as tools of cross-cultural dialogue and healing.
• Education and Research: Partnering with universities and cultural institutions to document diasporic histories, oral traditions, and contemporary social issues.
• Economic Empowerment: Encouraging sustainable tourism, creative industries, and small business development that circulate resources within the global African community.
• Ancestral Reconnections: Supporting DNA heritage projects, return journeys, and cultural immersion experiences that help diaspora members rediscover their roots and kinship networks.
